The Nakshatra is the lunar mansion — one of 27 star clusters (or 28, including Abhijit) through which the Moon travels during its monthly cycle. Each Nakshatra spans 13°20′ of the ecliptic. The Moon's Nakshatra at the time of birth is called the Janma Nakshatra, central to jyotish computations.
