छोटी छोटी गैया छोटे छोटे ग्वाल। छोटो सो मेरो मदन गोपाल॥ आगे आगे गैया पीछे पीछे ग्वाल। बीच में मेरो मदन गोपाल॥
छोटे-छोटे गोवंश (गौएं) हैं और छोटे-छोटे ग्वालबाल हैं, और उनके बीच में मेरे नन्हें मदन गोपाल (श्री कृष्ण) सुशोभित हैं। आगे-आगे गौएं चलती हैं, पीछे-पीछे ग्वालबाल चलते हैं, और उनके बीच में मनमोहक मदन गोपाल चलते हैं।
Little are the cows and little are the cowherd boys, and right in their midst is my dear little Madan Gopal (Krishna). Ahead walk the little cows, behind walk the little cowherd boys, and in between walks my enchanting Madan Gopal.
काली काली गैया गोरे गोरे ग्वाल। श्याम वरण मेरो मदन गोपाल॥ घास खावे गैया दूध पीवे ग्वाल। माखन खावे मेरो मदन गोपाल॥
काली-काली गौएं हैं, गोरे-गोरे ग्वालबाल हैं, और सुंदर श्याम वर्ण वाले मेरे मदन गोपाल हैं। गौएं हरी घास खाती हैं, ग्वालबाल दूध पीते हैं, और मेरे नन्हें मदन गोपाल माखन का स्वाद लेते हैं।
Black are the cows, fair-complexioned are the cowherd boys, and dark-hued is my beautiful Madan Gopal. The cows graze on green grass, the cowherds drink fresh milk, and my little Madan Gopal relishes fresh butter.
