Why are black sesame seeds and Shami leaves offered on Shani Pradosh?

Black sesame seeds (Kala Til) and Shami leaves are sacred to Lord Shani and beloved by Lord Shiva. Offering them dissolves negative karmic bonds and invites divine peace.

Can someone observe Shani Pradosh at home if unable to visit a temple?

Yes. One can perform the abhisheka of a small Narmadeshwar or Parad Shivling at home during the Pradosha Kaal, followed by lighting a mustard oil lamp facing West.
