वन्दे पद्मकरां प्रसन्नवदनां सौभाग्यदां भाग्यदां हस्ताभ्यामभयप्रदां च वरदां लीलाशुकं बिभ्रतीम्। शंखं चक्रमुदारकुम्भकलशं पाशं च पद्मद्वयं बिभ्राणां नवयौवनां मणिलसद्धारां भजे वैष्णवीम्॥
vande padmakarāṁ prasannavadanāṁ saubhāgyadāṁ bhāgyadāṁ hastābhyāmabhayapradāṁ ca varadāṁ līlāśukaṁ bibhratīm | śaṅkhaṁ cakramudārakumbhakalaśaṁ pāśaṁ ca padmadvayaṁ bibhrāṇāṁ navayauvanāṁ maṇilasaddhārāṁ bhaje vaiṣṇavīm ||
Meaning: I bow to Goddess Vaishnavi (Lakshmi), whose hands hold the red lotus, whose face is serene and delightful, the giver of auspicious fortune, who grants fearlessness and boons with her hands, holding conch, discus, vessel of abundance, noose and twin lotuses, resplendent in eternal youth and adorned with radiant jewel garlands.

Surrounded by sacred elephants sprinkling consecrated waters, she bypassed all gods and demons to choose Lord Vishnu as her eternal consort, sealing the harmony of righteousness and abundance.
Hindu philosophy does not limit wealth to currency. Lakshmi is worshipped as Ashta Lakshmi, representing the eight complete dimensions of human fulfillment: Adi Lakshmi (primordial peace), Dhanya Lakshmi (agricultural harvest), Dhairya Lakshmi (courage in adversity), Gaja Lakshmi (royal authority), Santana Lakshmi (noble lineage), Vijaya Lakshmi (triumph over obstacles), Vidya Lakshmi (spiritual knowledge), and Dhana Lakshmi (material prosperity).
On the dark night of Kartika Amavasya, every Indian home is cleaned, adorned with rangoli, and illuminated with rows of clay lamps (diyas) to invite the Goddess. The ritual invocation during Pradosha Kaal is not a greedy plea for riches, but a sacred welcome of pure light, family warmth, cleanliness, and ethical livelihood into one's home.
