शवारूढां महाभीमां घोरदंष्ट्रां हसन्मुखीम्। चतुर्भुजां खड्गमुण्डवराभयकरां पराम्॥ मुण्डमालाधरां देवीं ललज्जिह्वां दिगम्बराम्। श्मशाननिलयां ध्यायेत् कालिकाम् इष्टकामदाम्॥

Meaning: One should meditate upon Goddess Kalika, standing upon the quiescent form of Shiva, awe-inspiring yet with a benevolent smiling face, four-armed holding sword, severed head, boon, and protective gestures, wearing a garland of skulls, with tongue out, clothed in the directions (boundless), dwelling in the cremation ground of illusion, the fulfiller of righteous aspirations.

Her darkness is the color of the midnight sky before creation—the unmanifest womb from which all stars and universes emerge and into which they peacefully return. Clothed in the infinite directions (Digambara), she proves that all worldly titles, clothes, and illusions are shed before the eternal.
